     The purpose of this evaluation kit is to provide designers with a convenient way to evaluate the AFBR-775BxxxZ/785BxxxZ pluggable parallel fiber optic modules. The application note describes the details of the evaluation kit , AFBR-7705EKZ (Transmitter Board) and AFBR-7805EKZ (Receiver Board) as well as some recommended test configurations and equipment that should be used during module evaluation.
The AFBR-775BxxxZ/785BxxxZ transmit/receive pairs are high-performance fiber optic modules manufactured for parallel data communication applications over 50/125-micron multimode optical fiber. At data rates from 1 to 6.25 Gbps per channel these modules are suitable for applications requiring up to 75 Gbps aggregate bandwidth. Each transmitter/receiver pair completes a robust communication link across 150 meters of optical fiber useful in many datacom and telecom switch and router back-plane connections.

 The AFBR-775BxxxZ/785BxxxZ pluggable parallel fiber optic modules provide design engineers with many flexibilities for their system design: 
 These high-performance optical modules include features that allow the user/system to customize the signal integrity of the link by providing configurable settings for the receiver output voltage amplitude, the receiver output de-emphasis, and the transmitter input equalization. 
  • Both the transmitter and the receiver module provide the user/system the ability to remotely monitor the health of the link through a comprehensive set of digital diagnostics.
