The FT-1310-5I-xxx is an MOCVD grown InAlGaAs ridge laser diode with emission wave-length of 1310 nm and standard continuous light output of 5mW per facet. These lasers provide stable, single transverse mode oscillation.  These are hermetically sealed devices with an integrated monitor photodiode to monitor the optical output. The TO-56 laser can is mounted inside a metal coaxial package which is then pigtailed with a singlemode fiber and terminated with a fiber connector. The pigtail comes in a choice of 50cm or 100cm lengths as standard, terminated with either FC or SC connectors with an APC or UPC polish. Suitable as a light source for data-com and telecom applications with data rates up to 5 Gb/s.

The photodetector is designed to exhibit an optimized frequency response in both power and phase. It is ideally suited for OC-768/STM-256 long haul systems. The high power capability of up to 10 dBm allows for use of optical amplification at the detector input, and results in a high output voltage swing of up to 1V avoiding the need for electrical amplification. The photodetector is optimized for dual operations at 1310 nm and 1550 nm.

A waveguide integrated pin diode provides an excellent linearity, high responsivity and a superior flatness of the RF response. An integrated biasing guarantees a highly reliable component.

Due to experienced RF packaging, the pulse response shows almost no ringing. Our integrated on-chip spot size converter leads to a high responsivity and ensures reliability and robustness of the FT-DV. An advantage of the waveguide structure is the unsurpassed high-power behavior with linear response up to an optical input power of 10 dBm. For short pulses, an output voltage swing of more than 1 Vpp can be achieved without any degradation of the pulse response. FT-DVs contain a unique on-chip integrated bias network and ensure undisturbed frequency response from DC to the 3 dB cut-off frequency.

The FT-DV is a compact module that is based on an advanced waveguide photodetector chip integrated with a Bias-Tee. The HP-PD utilizes a mode-converting tapered waveguide for efficient fiber-to-chip coupling and a 1×4 Multi-Mode Interference (MMI) Coupler. The optical signal is split by the MMI coupler into 4 equal parts and then it is fed into an array of 4 photodiodes which are connected in-parallel. It has a responsivity of 0.52 A/W @ 1550 nm and a high saturation photocurrent of 35 mA @ 20 GHz. The HP-PD is capable of delivering 6 dBm RF output power @ 20 GHz and 3 dBm @ 50 GHz. The device exhibits a high linearity with typical OIP3 values above 20 dBm at a frequency of 40 GHz.

The photodetector comprises a single 75 GHz waveguide-integrated photodiode, which shows an extremely flat frequency response, both in power and in phase. The on-chip integrated bias-network with an optimized RF design in particular, ensures an undisturbed frequency response from DC to the 3 dB cut-off frequency and saves costs for internal bias-tees. The module is especially designed for optimal RF performance and therefore the pulse response reveals virtually no ringing.

High-power behavior shows a linear response up to an optical input power of 10 dBm. An output voltage swing of more than 0.5 Vpp can be achieved for short pulses without any degradation of the pulse response. All photodetector devices are characterized in the frequency domain up to 75 GHz by using a heterodyne technique. In the time domain, a femtosecond pulse source and a 65 GHz sampling oscilloscope are used to measure the pulse response.

F-tone Networks’s CPRV2b22A Integrated Coherent Receiver combines polarization beam splitting optics for the signal and local oscillator inputs, two matched optical 90° hybrids with monolithically integrated balanced photodetectors, and four linear trans-impedance amplifiers (TIAs) with differential outputs in a compact surface-mount package. At the signal input there is a monitor photodiode for input signal monitoring, as well as a variable optical attenuator (VOA). The receiver is available in both C- and L-band versions.
The device separates the incoming signal in X and Y polarization channels. Optical 90° hybrids subsequently demodulate the incident signal for each polarization into its in-phase (I) and quadrature (Q) phase channels, relative to an external local oscillator laser source. The phase channels are converted to electrical signals by pairs of balanced photodetectors that are monolithically integrated with the optical 90° hybrids, and subsequently amplified by linear trans-impedance amplifiers (TIAs). The TIAs feature integrated peak detectors and support both manual and automatic gain control.
